The University of Sydney's Safer Communities Office and Student Wellbeing will use the information you provide on this form to understand your needs, to provide you with care and support if you would like this, and wherever possible, respond to the incident you are reporting. ** Which of the following describes what you want to report?
**
What type of report do you wish to make?
You can make a complaint of sexual misconduct, including sexual assault or sexual harassment, if you would like the University to investigate or to take specific action in response to something that you have experienced. You must not make a complaint on behalf of someone else (unless you are a Safer Communities staff member, Student Affairs Officer). If you want to report something that someone else has experienced, you must make a disclosure.
You can make a disclosure (rather than a complaint) if you would like to make the University aware of an incident, but do not wish the University to investigate or to take any specific action in response to the incident. We understand that this can be a difficult time, so this is a way to report something that's happened and find out your options for support. If you make disclosure, you can still choose to make a complaint to the University about the same incident at a later time. If you want to report something that someone else has experienced, you must make a disclosure rather than a complaint. Where possible, you should seek permission from the affected person to make the disclosure.
Your contact details are required if you would like to lodge a complaint to the University. If you do not provide details, the University will treat the report as an anonymous disclosure.
A report is anonymous when it does not include the name or contact details of the person who submitted the report. Please note that if you choose to make an anonymous report, the University will be limited in the follow-up action that it can take. The University will also be unable to contact you about available support or to provide updates. If you submit your report anonymously, you will be making a disclosure. In the future, you may choose to provide more details and submit a complaint by selecting Make a report with contact details.
